Having previously studied in Thailand and subsequently worked as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development in Laos, Sarah developed a strong interest in migration and international relations early in her career, an interest she has continued to pursue throughout both her academic and professional life.

Upon returning to Australia, Sarah commenced employment with the Department of Home Affairs as a graduate in 2007, where she remained for 17 years in a range of progressively responsible roles.  Her work encompassed visa policy development across multiple areas, including Skilled, Temporary Activity, and Business Innovation visas. She also contributed to visa program management and productivity improvements in visa processing.

In addition to her immigration related roles, Sarah held positions within Border Force, where she was involved in airline liaison, fraud and integrity investigations, the Border Watch program, and entry interviews.

Sarah has travelled extensively through Asia both professionally and personally, in Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Singapore. Through her marriage and enduring familial ties in Africa, she has also developed a deep appreciation for the cultural and social fabric of the continent.

After leaving the Department of Home Affairs, Sarah worked in policy and compliance within the disability sector before returning to her first passion of migration to work with MSM Legal as a Registered Migration Agent.
