We have become aware that many visa holders who have visas expiring are receiving advice that by allowing their visa to expire and then transitioning to a Bridging Visa E, they avoid the need to pay visa application fees and will be given work rights while they wait for travel options to resume.

We are deeply concerned that visa holders are potentially not aware of the significant consequences of this decision, particularly that a three-year ban on returning to Australia can be imposed if you depart Australia while holding a Bridging Visa E.

Therefore, we urge visa holders to obtain independent advice from a registered migration agent/migration lawyer before your visa expires so that your individual circumstances can be considered.
